This Morning I Met A Whale

BOOK REVIEW
THIS MORNING I MET A WHALE

REVIEWED BY SOPHIE THOMPSON

The main characters are the whale and Michael. Michael is very good, but at times, like other children, he can be a little bit naughty. The whale is quite a young whale and is very sensible.

One day, when Michael was bird watching, he spotted a whale in the Thames. He didn’t believe what he was seeing. He thought that it was amazing, and more amazing still, the whale started to talk to him! The whale told him that the planet was being polluted and living creatures in the sea were drowning from oil. When Michael goes to school, his teacher asks him to write a true story that happened to him. So he wrote about the whale and his teacher and classmates don’t believe it is a real story. They are all flabbergasted as it is such a good story.

The whale is stranded, the news reporters come and he is on television. The headmaster runs into the classroom shouting come down to the shores of the Thames because a whale is there! Michael runs past the police and wades into the water. He can’t wade out too far so he has to swim to the whale.

I think that the moral of the story is don’t pollute the air.

I would recommend 6+.
